One Stop Centers

The One Stop Executive Committee addresses workforce and business development issues of common interest to regional partners in the One Stop Centers for Business and Workforce Development Centers of Yuba, Sutter, and Colusa Counties. One Stop partners include those agencies, organizations, and private sector businesses providing resources that contribute to the support of economic vitality and the development of quality services to job, education, training seekers (JETS) and the employer community. The One Stop Centers Executive Committee serves as a forum for the exchange of information, presentation of opportunities, and the establishment of partnerships that address common needs. The collaborations created by the Executive Committee partnerships allows for the leveraging of available local and regional resources to the benefit of all. Regional activities include shared business development and job marketing, such as billboards, radio, and television advertisements; and the development of a One Stop website linking all the services, activities, and programs, or resources, available to both businesses and JETS. The One Stop Centers Executive Committee of partners share one common logo and mission statement, and shared common goals and objectives.

Welfare and job training programs have been reformed at the federal and state levels. An important aspect of the reform is the creation of "One Stop" Centers that assist and promote the development of all the Region’s workforce and businesses, not just targeted populations as was the case prior to the reform legislation being implemented. In Yuba-Sutter’s new workforce investment system, the One Stop Centers are part of a network of workforce development agencies dedicated to providing services to employers and connecting prospective employees with business needs. Yuba-Sutter’s workers will find the One Stop Centers are a community resource they can use throughout their lifetime to enhance their job skills as they seek advancement or a better job, rather than just a place to go in times of a crisis, such as when they lose their jobs. Yuba-Sutter businesses will find the One Stop Centers to be a valuable partner offering business services that include customized employee recruitment, financial incentives for training, interviewing facilities, training rooms, computer labs, resources, and business-oriented workshops.

The Region’s One Stop Centers are designed at a local level to provide a workforce that will be qualified and employable for employers, and empower job seekers to meet the challenges of the new century by getting training and education they need for the jobs they want. Customer choice is a key component of the Once Stop Centers. From posting or looking at a job on the Internet, through guidance by highly trained help desk and counseling personnel, the Centers can provide fully customized packages of assistance for employers or jobseekers. In most cases, advanced training and education will occur after job seekers are employed. Yuba-Sutter’s One Stop Centers for Business and Workforce Development are bridging the gap between job opportunities and the pool of workers who are qualified to fill them.

The EZ Lead Agency is a primary member of the Executive Committee and an identified key partner in the One Stop Centers for Business and Workforce Development. The One Stop Centers for Business and Workforce Development are made up of the following partners:

Partners of the One Stop Centers:

• can access job openings through CalJOBS and other available resources
• can refer any job seeking client to any of those jobs for which he or she is qualified
• can refer employers to other partners for assistance in filling job openings as well as other business needs (tax credits, business expansion, etc.)
• can market hiring incentive programs and business services to employers
• will have broad awareness and knowledge of local and area job
• will be knowledgeable of all partners’ services, programs, training, etc
