MINIMUM WAGE
INCREASES
HIRING CREDIT CEILING
For
immediate release, Thursday, January 18, 2001
The recent increase in the
minimum wage to $6.25 per hour also increased the eligible wages
under the enterprise zone state tax hiring credit to $9.38 per
hour. The previous amount was $8.62. Qualified individuals hired
by a business located within the Yuba-Sutter Enterprise Zone can
now provide over $29,200 in tax credits over a five-year period.
This $29,200 applies to each qualified individual hired.
Do you know if your
business is in the zone? If not, find out. Your current
employees may qualify right now, providing you with a 2000 state
tax credit. There may be even credits for prior years that may
make it worth amending your tax return. Call the Yuba-Sutter

at 741-6463 to learn more about the hiring credits and other
